The Lfree symbol is a registered trademark at Italian, European (EU) and international (USA, China, Japan, Norway, Australia, San Marino and Switzerland) level since 2016. The symbol can be used by producers who are willing to guarantee safety of licensed products for lactose-intolerants. As it is internationally recognized, this trademark promotes international producers in their export activity by providing a clearly identifiable message of safety that overcomes the language barriers.
The blue version of the Lfree symbol (“Lactose-free”) certifies the absence of lactose lower than 0.01% (i.e. 0.01g/100g of total product).
The green version of the Lfree symbol (“Dairy-free”) certifies the absence of lactose (lower than 0.01%) combined with the absence of milk protein (traces lower than 0.5 mk/kg), as casein and beta-lactoglobulin.
The “Naturally lactose-free” symbol will be issued to naturally lactose-free dairy products, since the presence of lactose is reduced due to their production process (lower than 0.01%). <0.01% grazie al loro processo produttivo.

The product requirements for licensing the Lfree symbol, including the analytical method employed to measure the presence of lactose/milk protein, are described in the technical-scientific policy document that is associated with the trademark.
Together with Lfree trademark, ELLEFREE is working on a project named “Senza lattosio fuori casa” (literally “Lactose-free outside home”), that aims at informing those businesses (restaurants, pubs, hotels, B&Bs and so on) that operate in the catering and tourism industry and are willing to meet the special dietary needs of lactose-intolerant people.
The goal is once again to offer a unique service to lactose-intolerants by clearly identifying with a decal a place where they can safely enjoy a meal. Every shop with the licensed decal will be communicated on the website www.associazioneaili.it and highlighted in the map created ad hoc for this project.
